ROSE BOWL LEGENDS
Rose Bowl Legends Pasadena Los Angeles |
ROSE BOWL LEGENDS George FlemingGeorge Fleming's long career in public service dates back to his days as a running back for the University of Washington Huskies, when, starring in the 1960 Rose Bowl, he brought respectability back to the Pac-8 (now the Pac-10) after what seemed to be nearly a century of domination in the bowl game by the Big Ten Conference. He later donned the silver and black as a halfback for the Oakland Raiders. Mr. Fleming also was the first African American member of the Washington State Senate, and in that capacity was a mentor and role model to Ron Sims, who would go on to serve as King County Executive. |
