LEGENDS Andre JohnsonAndre Lamont Johnson (born July 11, 1981 in Miami, Florida) is an American football Pro Bowl wide receiver currently playing for the Houston Texans of the NFL. Johnson attended Miami Senior High School in Miami, Florida, where he was a Parade All-America selection, first team All-State, and a Dallas Morning News National Top 100 accolades selection. As a senior, he posted 31 receptions for 908 yards (29.29 yards per rec. avg.) and 15 touchdowns. As a junior, he caught 25 passes for 618 yards (24.72 yards per rec. avg.) and 12 touchdowns. He also played basketball and track and field. He attended the University of Miami, where he was a standout wide receiver on UM's successful football team. Johnson also ran for UM's track and field team. In 2002, he won the Big East 60 meter dash (6.83 seconds) at the Big East Indoor Championship and followed that up by winning the 100 meter dash (10.59 seconds) at the Big East Outdoor Championships. Johnson was drafted by the Houston Texans in the first round with the third pick overall of the 2003 NFL Draft out of the University of Miami. In his rookie season with the Texans, Johnson started and played in all 16 games and recording 66 receptions for 976 yards and 4 touchdowns. His breakout year came in 2004 when he recorded 79 catches for 1,142 yards and six touchdowns while being selected to his first Pro-Bowl. In the 2005 season, however, Johnson only played 13 games due to injury and had a lackluster 63 receptions with 688 yards and 2 touchdowns. |
